How We Choose Games

2oyun lists tens of thousands of games, but they don't all arrive the same way. This page explains how games enter the catalogue, which checks they pass, why lists are ordered the way they are, and when a game is removed.

Where the games come from

  • Games hosted on our own server. These are independent games whose source code has been published openly. We only take a game when the licences of its code and assets (art, sound) allow commercial use; if we can't be sure, we leave it out. The licence file is kept with the game, and the developer and licence are shown under "Credits and license" on the game page.
  • Games from distribution networks. Networks such as GameMonetize license developers' games to portals. These games load from the network's own infrastructure inside a frame on our page; all rights stay with their developers.

Before a game goes live

For games we host, every game is opened in a browser, run through a short automated play test and checked for console errors. We remove analytics, other people's ad codes and store badges, and replace libraries loaded from external CDNs with local copies; the game must not send a single request outside our own server. Cover images are made from real screenshots of the game.

For network games, automated checks run:

  • Games whose cover image fails to load are unpublished.
  • Games the network marks as unplayable or drops from its feed are hidden.
  • When the same game exists more than once, only one copy is listed.
  • Games from networks that don't load on our domain are not shown.

Our trademark policy

We don't want to list games that use well-known games, characters, brands or real people without permission. We keep a trademark list and regularly compare game titles against it; matching network games are unpublished. We also sweep descriptions and cover images periodically and unpublish games with gambling, adult content or extreme violence. Titles that look like a brand are flagged during text preparation as well. These sweeps can't catch everything, so if you spot a game we missed, please tell us.

How lists are ordered

"Popular" lists and category pages are sorted by a score. Most of it comes from plays over the last seven days, with recent plays weighing more than older ones. Player likes, how new the game is and how complete its page is (description, controls, artwork) are added on top. So that one genre or one developer can't fill the lists, games further down the same category or from the same developer get a gradually larger deduction. Games picked by our editors get a small bonus. We don't take money for rankings.

In the Turkish catalogue, games with their own Turkish text come first in category lists, and those are the pages we open to search engines. Games without their own text yet are playable, but we keep them out of search results.

When games are removed

  • When a game doesn't load, its artwork is broken, or the network has withdrawn it.
  • When it matches our trademark list, or a rights holder contacts us with information showing their rights.
  • When it contains gambling, adult content or extreme violence.
  • When another copy of it is already listed.
  • When a question comes up about the licence of a game we host; it stays offline until that is resolved.

We don't delete games; we unpublish them and record the reason, so a game can come back once the problem is fixed.

Report a game

If you find a game that doesn't work, has inappropriate content or imitates a brand, send its link to hi@2oyun.com. If you are a rights holder, tell us which content is yours and include information that shows it; we prioritise these requests. More on the Contact page.
